It is hardly surprising that around 150 teams come to Prague each year for the Prague Strahov Cup. Why? Because it strikes the perfect balance between an international competition and spending time in a beautiful city. The Prague Strahov Cup is a wonderful opportunity for teams from East and West to meet and compete. Each year, friends of football from around ten different countries gather over a weekend in June in one of the most stunning cities in Europe. It is simply a fantastic sporting event, all the more so considering it takes place in Prague, a cosmopolitan hotspot. Simply cross one of the charming bridges spanning the Vltava River and you are already in the historic city centre – exactly where you want to be. Organised at the impressive Strahov Stadium complex, the tournament features a wide range of age categories. U9, U10, U11, and U12 teams play 7-a-side matches, each lasting around 20 minutes, while U13 teams compete in 11-a-side matches of 2 x 20 minutes, and U15 teams play 11-a-side matches of 2 x 25 minutes. Each category usually includes between 12 and 16 teams who play a group stage followed by playoff or placement matches, ensuring plenty of game time for all participants. Rolling substitutions are allowed in most categories to promote development and maximum participation. With its excellent organisation, international atmosphere, and the backdrop of Prague’s historic streets, castles, and bridges, the Prague Strahov Cup is much more than just a football tournament. It is an unforgettable experience combining top-level youth football with the cultural riches of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
